Key Features

Our Mission

The main goal of Scarves is to support scout movements by providing a unified, standardized resource that helps them optimize their websites and digital presence. By eliminating compatibility problems between different countries and movements, we enable better resource sharing, improved cross-border collaboration, and more efficient management of scout organization data worldwide.

About the Founders

Scarves was founded on June 1st, 2023 by Paul Tesson and developed by Yohan Bonnet. Originally launched as a mobile application for iOS and Android, it was initially created for Scouts and Guides of France (Scouts et Guides de France). The mobile app quickly grew to become a worldwide resource. By the end of July 2023, Scarves had already reached approximately 2,000 downloads, demonstrating the strong need for such a mobile platform in the scouting community.

Origins of the Project

Scarves started as a mobile application designed to solve a real-world problem. The idea was born from a personal moment of connection during a large scout gathering. Paul Tesson shares the story behind the project:

"One day, during a large scout gathering, I met someone who really touched me. I immediately wanted to see them again and stay in touch, but I hadn't even taken the time to ask for their name or where they came from... My only memory of them was their scarf. At that precise moment, the idea sprouted in my mind: why not create an application bringing together all the scarves from around the world, in order to find the people who touch us? And that's how the idea for this application was born!"

— Paul Tesson, Scarves

This heartfelt story led to the creation of a mobile application that helps identify scout groups based on scarf colors and, conversely, find scarf designs based on scout groups. What started as a mobile app to reconnect with someone special has evolved into a comprehensive tool that serves the entire global scouting community, available on both iOS and Android platforms.

How It Works

As a mobile application, Scarves revolutionizes how you identify scout groups directly from your smartphone or tablet. Simply photograph or describe a scout scarf using the app, and our intelligent system matches it with our extensive database of scout organizations from around the globe. Whether you're at a jamboree, scout camp, or meeting new scouts, the Scarves mobile app helps you quickly identify which scout group or movement they belong to based on their distinctive scarf design - all from the convenience of your mobile device.

Our database includes thousands of scout scarves from major organizations like Scouts BSA, Girl Scouts, World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), and countless local and regional groups. From traditional scout movements to modern scouting organizations, we cover them all.
